Bernice B. Yeakel passed away at Ira Davenport Hospital on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Born on August 6, 1910 in Manayunk Pennsylvania to Molly Sobel Blasband and Benjamin Blasband (dec'd), Bernie was the youngest of 8 children.

Bernice B. Yeakel passed away at Ira Davenport Hospital on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Born on August 6, 1910 in Manayunk Pennsylvania to Molly Sobel Blasband and Benjamin Blasband (dec'd), Bernie was the youngest of 8 children.
In 1929 she married Ralph Warren Yeakel, Sr. and was the loving mother to Ralph W. Yeakel, Jr. and Eric P. Yeakel. After obtaining her high school diploma with a specialization in the areas of commerce and secretarial studies, Bernie occupied a series of positions, ultimately becoming an Executive Secretary of Time Inc. at their Philadelphia Office.
After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She was a long time resident of the Philadelphia area and moved to the Finger Lakes in 2002.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Sr.; and her son, Ralph Jr.
She is survived by her son, Eric P (Julia R.) Yeakel of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her daughter-in-law, Marjory Cleaveland-Yeakel of Hammondsport; her grand-daughter, Yudith Yeakel, also of Hammondsport; her "adopted" daughter and son, Marcia R. Orbovich of Michigan City, Indiana and David Zeft of Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania.
In accord with Bernie's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. By her instructions, family and friends will be invited to a celebration of her life, to be held at the convenience of the family, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bernie's favorite charities over the past few years: The Finger Lakes SPCA, 7315 Rte. 54, Bath, NY 14810 or the Fred and Harriet Taylor Memorial Library, 21 William St., Hammondsport, NY 14840.
