Holly J. Hain
Holly J. Hain, age 46, of Painted Post, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1963 in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of Robert and Agnes (Belcher) Keyser. She married Andrew Hain on July 4, 1992 in Dolgeville, NY.
Holly was a Physical Education teacher at Campbell Savona School District for almost 20 years. She was soccer and volleyball coach there as well.
Holly was also a swim instructor and lifeguard and she enjoyed sewing and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Andrew Hain; parents, Robert and Agnes Keyser of Dolgeville, NY; sister, Valerie (Clifford) Hadden of Dolgeville, NY; brother, Brian Keyser of Dolgeville, NY; sister, Cathy (Steve) Chapman of Whitesboro, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Harry G. Makitra
Harry G. Makitra, age 86, of Bath, passed away Tuesday August 24, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 11, 1924 in Youngsville, PA, the son of Stephen and Mary Lotus Makitra.
Harry served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He and his brothers owned and operated The Lido Bar on Long Island and the Moonlit Restaurant in Bath. He began his career in automotive sales at Perry and Thompson Ford and remained there for 38 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173, V.F.W. Post 1470 and Knights of Columbus Council 5147, all in Bath. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Bath. Harry was the last remaining Charter member of the Bath Kiwanis Club which was founded in 1953. He was past president and had perfect attendance for 57 years. Harry was the first Bath Kiwanian to receive the prestigious Hixon Award.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Snell) Makitra, one son, Gregory Makitra; two daughters, Kimberly Makitra and Cathy Makitra, all of Bath; one granddaughter, Julia Makitra of Corning; three sisters, Nancy Hill of NewPort Ritchie, FL, Mary Donnelly of Franklin Square, NY and Helen Bilzor of Harwood, MD as well as several nieces and nephews.
