Southern Indiana senior guard Jamar Smith earned Division II player of the year by Basketball Times. A guard for two seasons at Illinois, Smith became the third Southern Indiana player to receive a national player of the year award.

Southern Indiana senior guard Jamar Smith earned Division II player of the year by Basketball Times. A guard for two seasons at Illinois, Smith became the third Southern Indiana player to receive a national player of the year award.

Smith, a product of Peoria Richwoods High School, already earned Great Lakes Valley Conference player of the year. He scored a career-high 40 points in a victory over Illinois-Springfield this season. He averaged 21.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.


NOTE: Illinois' football game at Fresno State has been set for a 9:15 p.m. kickoff on Dec. 3. The game will be televised by ESPN2. The non-conference game was originally scheduled for Dec. 4.
