A representative from BJ's said Wednesday the company will move its headquarters from Natick to the former National Grid campus in Westborough.
Kelly McFalls, a spokeswoman for the wholesale chain, said BJ's will make the move sometime early next year.
The shift has been talked about for some time, but until now the company had not confirmed its plans.
"This (move) will allow us to be in one central location,'' said McFalls. "Right now, all of our employees are working in five offices in Natick, and (they) are bursting at the seams.''
McFalls said the company picked the location at 25 Research Drive because of its spacious accommodations. The site housed the headquarters of National Grid, which moved out in 2008.
"We are very excited they've selected Westborough,'' said Jim Malloy, Westborough's town manager. "We have had several discussions over the past several months on this, and we're glad they've finally picked us.''
When National Grid moved to Waltham, Westborough lost about 900 jobs, Malloy said.
"Local shops and businesses were affected a lot. Having an equal-sized business move back in will certainly help the local economy now and definitely in the long run,'' he said.
