  • At the Annual Educational Opportunities banquet, the 2013 scholarship winners were announced by Mary-Ann Robinson and Becka Kirch, Co-chairs of the Scholarship Committee. Recipient of the High School Award was Megan Erway, daughter of Peter and Yvonne Erway and the Mature Woman Award was presented to Stacey Clark.
    Megan is a 2013 graduate of Hammondsport High School and will attend U of Buffalo majoring in Psychology. Stacey plans to finish courses at Corning Community College and go on to be a Registered Nurse.
    The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. The local branch which includes members from Hammondsport, Bath, and Prattsburg, offers its scholarships through area high schools and news items in the Steuben Courier and the Leader. It was founded in 1953 and has been active in many community service projects through the years.
