  • BATH VILLAGE
    Several charges
    BATH | Village Police report that Richard Graham, 49, of Howell St., Bath, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on April 20 after he allegedly entered a garage and stole an ATV. He then attempted to paint and dismantle the ATV to hid its appearance as the stolen ATV. Graham was arraigned and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
    BATH STATE POLICE
    Several charges
    AVOCA | Troopers report the arrest of Aaron L. Peterson, 29, of Avoca on April 14 for driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and speeding (81/65) following a traffic stop on I-390. Peterson is scheduled to appear in the town of Avoca court at a later date.
    Warrant
    BATH | Troopers have completed a three year investigation into a break-in at the Avoca Gas Storage Project with the arrest of Jeremey C. Burleson, 31 years old. Burleson was arrested after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Steuben County Court and he was located living in North Manchester, IN. NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation transported Burleson from IN to Bath, NY where he was arraigned in Steuben County Court and committed to the Steuben County Jail without bail. It is alleged that Burleson, formerly of Henry St., Hornell, stole a large amount of copper from the Gas Storage Project and fled to IN after evidence linking him to the theft was recovered. NYSP arrested Burleson's accomplices in 2011 and have been attempting to locate Burleson since that time. No additional arrests are expected relative to this investigation.
    PAINTED POST STATE POLICE
    Possession of marijuana
    CAMPBELL | Troopers report the arrest of Daniel D. Chaapel, 17, of Addison and Caleb M. Chrisler, 18, of Campbell on April 12 for unlawful possession of marijuana following a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Chaapel and Chrisler are scheduled to appear in the town of Campbell court at a later date.
    Harassment
    ERWIN | Troopers report the arrest of Derek T. Canfield, 24, of Elmira, Joseph A. McDonald, 50, of Big Flats and Kayla S. McDonald, 22, of Painted Post on April 15 for second-degree harassment following a 911 report of a property dispute. All three suspects are scheduled to appear in the town of Erwin court at a later date.
    Petit larceny
    ERWIN | Troopers report the arrest of Hans W. Seeger, 22, of Lindley on April 17 for petit larceny following a shoplifting complaint from Walmart. Seeger is scheduled to appear in the town of Erwin court at a later date.
    DWI
    SAVONA | Troopers report the arrest of Darlene A. Dewitt, 48, of Savona on April 13 for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .13 percent following a traffic stop on I-86. Dewitt is scheduled to appear in the village of Savona court at a later date.

    Violation of probation warrant
    • BATH | Deputies report the arrest of Sonja F. Covell, 46, of Main St., Hammondsport on April 24 at approximately 10:50 a.m. Covell was arrested at the Steuben County Office Building after she arrived for an appointment with probation and deputies discovered that Covell had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation. Covell was arraigned in Steuben County Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. She will appear in Steuben County Court at a later date.
    • CORNING | Deputies report the arrest of a town of Corning resident April 20. Cody J. Austin, 20, of Park Ave., Corning was arrested and charged with violation of probation on a warrant issued by the Steuben County Probation Department. Cody was remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail. He will appear in County Court at a later date.
    Possession of marijuana
    • CORNING | Deputies report the arrest of a Corning resident April 20. Deputies and canine Daimon arrested Ashley P. Sylvester, 21, of Townsend Ave., Corning for unlawful possession of marijuana and operating without headlights after a traffic stop in the city of Corning. Sylvester was issued an appearance ticket and released. She will appear in the city of Corning court at a later date.
    • CORNING | Deputies report the arrest of a Painted Post resident April 20. Deputies and canine Daimon arrested Jordan T. Abbey, 18, of Beartown Rd., Painted Post for unlawful possession of marijuana. Abbey was issued an appearance ticket and released. He will appear in the town of Corning court at a later date.
    • CORNING | Deputies report the arrest of a Painted Post resident on April 20. Deputies and canine Daimon arrested Nicole E. Austin, 18, of East High St., Painted Post for unlawful possession of marijuana. Austin was issued an appearance ticket and released. She will appear in the city of Corning court at a later date.
    HORSEHEADS STATE POLICE
    Petit larceny
    • HORSEHEADS | Troopers report the arrest of Amanda L. Ayers and Heaven Copley, both 25, of Lawrenceville, PA on April 15 for petit larceny following a shoplifting complaint. Both women are accused of taking $66.86 worth of merchandise from Walmart. They are scheduled to appear in the town of Horseheads court at a later date.
    • HORSEHEADS | Troopers report the arrest of Brittany A. Darrow, 27, and Savannah J. Dickens, 20, both of Elmira on April 16 for petit larceny following a shoplifting complaint. Both women are accused of taking $22.84 worth of merchandise from Walmart. They are scheduled to appear in the town of Horseheads court at a later date.
    DWI
    ELMIRA HEIGHTS | Troopers report the arrest of Shawn M. Savino, 40, of Elmira on April 14 for driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Horseheads Blvd. Savino is scheduled to appear in the village of Elmira Heights court at a later date.

    SOUTHPORT | Troopers responded to a report of a property damage automobile accident on Beckwith Road on April 13. Following an investigation Brian P. Steiner, 23, of Elmira was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .17 percent and unlawful possession of marijuana. Steiner is scheduled to appear in the town of Southport court at a later date.
