  • I have really enjoyed my campaign for the Bath Central School Board of Education.  It has given me the opportunity to talk with many people in our community about their goals, expectations and hopes for our school district.  Most of the people that I have talked with ask why I want to run for this position.  I have a plethora of reasons, but they can be summed up into three different categories.
My first reason for wanting this position is that I am highly qualified to serve as a school board member.  I have worked in education for almost 15 years.  I was a guidance counselor at BOCES on the Coopers Education Center for 5 years.  That experience gave me a behind the scenes look at how BOCES operates.  Because BOCES serves many school districts, my time there gave me a good perspective on how different school districts function.  For the last 10 years, I have been the Director of Guidance at Campbell-Savona Central School.  I am an administrator as well as the 10-12 Guidance Counselor.  Working at CSCS has afforded me the opportunity to be a decision maker in the district allowing me to weigh in on the direction the district wants to head.
My second reason can be summed up by the fact that I have a vested interest in the Bath Central School District.  My dad attended Haverling, my mom was a teacher for over 20 years at Bath, I graduated from Haverling in 1992 as did my sister and brother, and finally my two daughters attend Bath.  I had a top notch experience at Haverling while in school.  I was involved in three sports, student council, Latin Club as well as other activities such as band and the Senior Play.  I received a high quality education that laid a solid foundation for my future.  I took advantage of ACE and AP courses as well as many different electives.  Those experiences combined, gave me the rigor, drive and confidence to be successful in life.  I want to ensure that those experiences can continue for today’s students.
My third and most important reason is the education of our children.  My wife and I have often talked about moving; however, in the end, it is the Bath Central School District that keeps us here.  We know the quality education our daughters are getting will give them the same solid foundation that I had growing up.  I want to be on the Bath School Board of Education so that I can do my part in giving the district the direction needed so that all children of Bath can be prepared for the world ahead of them in a fiscally sound way.
