  • With just a couple weeks left in the regular season, Bath Haverling got the kind of win teams need during sectionals.
The Rams handed Dansville only its third loss of the season Friday, winning 5-1 at home with strong pitching and timely hitting.
Jolynn Betty scattered four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts for Bath (6-5), while going 2-for-2 at the plate with a run scored. Ali Sprague hit 2-for-3 and Alex Siebert and Alicia Jenney each hit two-run singles. Dansville (9-3) was led by Cheyenne Genung’s RBI single and a double by Kelsey Snyder.
“This was a tough week for us, having to play four games, but Dansville is a good club and they’re a team in our (sectional class),” said Bath coach Don Long. “We made a lot of plays defensively today, that’s what we needed to do.”
Bath led 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, then scored a pair of runs to pad the lead.
