  • Frank E. Wilkinson “Wilkie,” 72, of Augusta, MT, formerly of Hammondsport passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013.

  • Frank E. Wilkinson “Wilkie,” 72, of Augusta, MT, formerly of Hammondsport passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013.
    He was born Feb. 3, 1941 in Hammondsport, the son of Walter and Mildred Root Wilkinson.
    Frank joined the Army in 1963 and was stationed at Ft Myers and Arlington National Cemetery where he was a member of the “Old Guard,” performing many ceremonial duties, he was especially pround of standing guard over JFK's white picket fence grave site. Frank owned and operated Wilkie's Inn in Hammondsport for 27 years. He also had been a barber and flooring installer for many years. He also enjoyed using many methods of fishing on Keuka Lake, his other passions were shooting sporting clays, skeet and trap, golf and playing pool. His passion for hunting took him to the mountains of Montana where he had been a guide and later retired. He was a lifetime member of the Hammondsport American Legion, Bath VFW, Bath Lodge of Elks and the Bath Rod and Gun Club, he was a founding member of Bath-Hammondsport Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
    Surviving are his children, Scott (Becki) Wilkinson and Tanya (Bob Kolo) Wilkinson both of Hammondsport; grandchildren, Trenton and Cody Kolo, Alexa Wilkinson, Timberly, Noah and Jonah Wilkinson; sisters, Doris Hoover of Myrtle Beach, SC, Marie (Robert) Bailey; brother, Alfred (Lil Storey) Wilkinson both of Hammondsport; many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
    He was pre-deceased by his parents; and his brothers, Jack, Joe, Sonny and Alan.
    A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
    After the graveside service, everyone is invited to the Hammondsport Legion for a luncheon.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Bath Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 764, Bath, NY 14810.
    Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.
