  • An Elmira teen allegedly stole a fourwheeler on River Road in South Corning on Monday night, then led police on a chase that ended in the City of Corning.
Damion Stanley, 16, was charged Monday with petit larceny and felony violation of probation, Painted Post-based New York State Police Inv. Jon Lackey said. Stanley was arraigned in Corning Town Court and sent to the Steuben County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
Police said Stanley was walking on River Road when he saw a four-wheeler sitting in a yard, jumped on it and drove away toward the city.
“He went for a ride and that’s when Corning police ended up chasing him,” Lackey said.
Stanley drove through much of the city before being stopped by the police near Hugh W. Gregg Elementary School on the city’s Northside, police said.
