    Sheriff deputies report the arrest of Chad G. Wilson, 35, of Beaver Dams, for second degree criminal contempt. Wilson was charged following an investigation by the Sheriff's Office, stemming from a domestic incident in the town of Erwin alleging that Wilson violated a stay away order of protections.
    Wilson will appear in the town of Erwin court on Dec. 7 to answer to the charge. Members of the Sheriff's office were assisted by the Steuben County District Attorney's Office with the investigation.
    Welfare fraud
    The Steuben County Sheriff's department and the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit announce the arrest of Jennifer A. Dennis, 22, of Conklin Street, Hornell at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. Dennis was charged with one count of first degree offering a false instrument for filing and one count of fourth degree welfare fraud. Dennis allegedly offered a false statement and failed to report income in the household to Social Services which she is required to do. This resulted in her receiving more than $1,000 in benefits from March 2009 to October 2009 that she was not entitled to.
    Dennis was issued an appearance ticket to appear at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the village of Bath court to answer to the charges.
    Bench warrant
    Sheriff deputies report the arrest of a town of Bath resident on Friday, Nov. 6 at about 12 p.m. for a bench warrant issued out of the city of Elmira for third degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Jennifer Jones, 22, of Bath was arrested at the Department of Social Services in the Steuben County Office Building after deputies checked into the background of Jones for a possible wanted person. Jones was processed and transported to the Steuben County Line where she was turned over to Elmira Police Department to answer to the charge.
    Steuben County Grand Jury
    • Shane Ellison, 22, of County Route 70, Avoca, was charged with second-degree criminal sale of marijuana, a class D felony, and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class E felony. He allegedly possessed and sold marijuana May 19 in Bath.
    • Dean L. French Jr., 29, of Boot Jack Road, Bath, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. He allegedly violated an order of protection and possessed cocaine and methamphetamine June 20 in Corning.
