  • Three women are facing prostitution charges after being arrested in Horseheads over the weekend.
Asia R. Johnson, 18, Akila L. Johnson, 27, and Roxsand A. Ippolito, 19, all of Rochester, were each charged with prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail, according to the Horseheads Police Department.
The women were arrested Sunday at the Landmark Inn on Westinghouse Road. They allegedly offered sex to plainclothed Horseheads police officers in exchange for money.
The suspects were arraigned in Horseheads Village Court and sent to the Chemung County Jail.
The Elmira Heights Police Department assisted in the case.
The arrests were part of ongoing efforts to combat prostitution in Horseheads, police say.
In late February, two Rochester women were arrested at Motel 6, and a Long Island woman was arrested at the Red Carpet Inn during an investigation involving multiple local law enforcement agencies.
However, Horseheads Police Chief Mike Barton said he didn’t believe Sunday’s arrests were connected to the arrests earlier this year.
