BATH - Human remains were found Sunday afternoon in the area of Wood Street and Muck Circle, just outside the village.

Those remains are currently at the Monroe County Examiners Office to attempt to identify them and notify the next of kin.

Bath State Investigator Brian Mayhew said the remains were found at about 3:30 p.m. by a hunter who was scouting the land.

“As of right now, we are trying to figure out who (the remains) are from,” Mayhew said. “We secured the scene and all of the remains were sent to the examiners office. Hopefully they will be able to tell use if there was anything suspicious, or if it was natural and identify the person.”

Mayhew said the body had clearly been at the location for a while, and had been exposed to weather for an extended period of time, and there was little human remains to work with.

Anyone with information can call State Police at 607-776-6866, Mayhew said. All calls will be kept confidential.
