CORNING - A man and woman who allegedly killed a Dwight Avenue woman at her home August 28, 2017, are currently behind bars in the death of Michele Neurauter.
Karrie M. Neurauter, 20, and Lloyd J. Neurauter, 45, each of 155 Marc Drive, North Brunswick, New Jersey, were charged Wednesday with second-degree murder.
The two allegedly murdered 46-year-old Michele Neurauter, who was the mother of Karrie and the ex-wife of Lloyd.
“I can tell you it wasn’t a suicide,” said Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker at a Thursday morning press conference. “The case has been ruled a homicide. As far as the actual evidence and motive this is an ongoing investigation."
Karrie Neurauter was arrested at her Syracuse apartment Wednesday morning and transported by patrolmen to Corning.
She was arraigned in Corning City Court and sent to the Steuben County Jail without bail, said Corning Police Chief Jeff Spaulding. She will reappear at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Corning City Court to answer to the charges.
Lloyd Neurauter was located at about 4:46 p.m. Wednesday in Princeton, New Jersey, when police were notified he had been tracked to Princeton.
A patrolmen check the municipal surveillance cameras spotted Neurauters vehicle on the roof of a parking garage, Spaulding said. Patrolmen check the parking garage and found the car and Neurauter.
Spaulding said at that point Neurauter threatened to jump off the five-story parking garage, but Princeton police and New Jersey State Police detectives, accompanied by a member of the New York State Police, were able to arrest him without incident.
Baker said Neurauter remains in a New Jersey jail pending extradition back to New York state.
