CORNING - Hundreds of kids filled into the Corning Museum of Glass auditorium Wednesday morning for a dance party.
The festivities were a part of CMoG’s Little Gather program being held on a weekly basis throughout the summer. The shows feature storytelling, puppet shows, magic shows, music and other activities, while the Southeast Steuben County Library brings books every week related to the theme.
“We have different themes every week; different types of performances,” said Mieke Fay, CMoG Youth and Family Programs Educator.
Wednesday was a musical theme. Festivities featured a concert by local children’s musician Doc Possum, otherwise known as Doc Cavallaro. Children also made maracas.
Next week’s event on July 25 will feature the "science of magic with super scientific circus."
Fay said she hopes kids come away from Little Gather excited to come back to the museum.
“We want kids and families to know the museum is a place for them, and that there’s always something for them at the Corning Museum of Glass,” she said. “This is a great way to get the little ones introduced and started with coming to the museum regularly.”
Little Gather will be held at the museum every Wednesday for six weeks in the summer. The second event took place Wednesday.
The 11 a.m. show is free and open to the public. Families receive free admission to the museum after the show.
