CORNING - Taste of Summer experienced a taste of good fortune this year.

After several years of gloomy forecasts, the annual Gaffer District event enjoyed temperatures in the 80s and sunny, cloudless skies.

“This is spectacular,” said Gaffer District Executive Director Colleen Fabrizi. “For the past several years that we’ve done this event, we’ve had strong thunderstorm warnings. When we saw the forecast for tonight, we were like ‘finally!’”

Vendors and booths along Bridge Street were also receptive of the warm, sunny weather Thursday evening for Taste of Summer.

“This is always a great event as long as the weather holds out,” said Bob Smith, station manager of 96.5 The Met, who attends Taste of Summer annually with a station booth. “The Northside deserves a lot of action.”

Hundreds of residents lined Bridge Street Thursday evening to enjoy food, fun, and music from the Steve Terwilliger Duo and Foreigner tribute band Hot Blooded.

Taste of Summer will return in summer 2018.
