BATH - Work will soon be underway on a bridge replacement project over the Cohocton River on State Route 415.

The State Department of Transportation has announced that preliminary work will begin Jan. 28, on State Route 415, from State Route 53 to the Campbell Creek Road. It is anticipated that the initial phase will be completed by the end of February with work suspended through the month of March and operations resuming in April.

An updated Travel Advisory will be issued prior to that time, according to the DOT. Construction operations will be performed from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. with flagger guidance during those periods using short term shoulder and possible lane closures.

DOT officials said it is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through the many highway and bridge construction zones they will encounter this season.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
