HORSEHEADS - No foul play was found in the mobile home fire that took the life of 49-year-old man Monday morning at Level Acres Drive.
Michael J. Benjamin, who lived at the mobile home, was killed by the blaze, according to Horseheads State Police Lieutenant Nick Medina.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, according to Town and Country Fire Department Chief Don Fischer.
“There was nothing suspicious about the fire,” Medina said.
Benjamin’s name was released Tuesday after an autopsy was completed on the body.
The Town and Country and Horseheads fire departments were dispatched to the scene at 10:07 a.m. Monday, officials said. The Elmira Heights and Breesport fire department were later called to the scene to provide two tanker trucks.
Fischer said Benjamin was the only occupant inside the mobile home at the time of the fire. The body was found by a firefighter fighting the blaze.
