CORNING - The Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of Corning are teaming up to hold a Chicken BBQ to raise funds for the 2020 July 4th fireworks.

The BBQ will be from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday (June 22, 2019) at the Corning American Legion, located on 8 River Road, Corning.

Tickets are $12 per person.

Dinners will include a half chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw and a roll to eat in or take out. Desserts will also be available for a nominal fee.

The event will also feature entertainment by the Corning Rotary Jazz Band, a 50/50 raffle and a quilt raffle.

Corning’s three service clubs have organized and supported the Corning Fireworks for more than 40 years. Members of each club collect funds in red buckets from fireworks attendees, and each club, along with several community partners also donates substantial funds to support this popular event each year.

This year the three clubs decided to raise additional funds towards next year’s event because it’s become apparent many who attend the Fireworks no longer carry cash.

This year’s Fireworks festivities will be held on Thursday, July 4 beginning at 8 pm, with the fireworks show starting at 9:45 p.m.

The rain date will be July 5.

Pre-show entertainment includes the Corning Area Community Concert Band performing at Corning Memorial Stadium.
