BATH - Jessica Thomas was recently awarded the Bath Rotarian of the Month for December by Jane Russell, Bath Rotary Club President.

Thomas was recognized for her service to the local club, the community of Bath, and the world as well as her participation in club projects, fundraisers, weekly luncheon meetings, and other club activities.

“On behalf of the club I would like to thank you, Jessica, for executing most diligently the many duties of the Bath Rotary Club Treasurer and the Bath Rotary Club Foundation Treasurer,” Russell said as she presented Thomas her certificate. “As president, I am most appreciative of your financial oversight at the end of December. In addition to serving as treasurer, we all are thankful for the outstanding job you do as our club secretary, including taking and distributing the minutes of the club’s monthly Board of Directors’ meetings and maintaining the records of each Bath Rotarian with Rotary District 7120.

“We could not function effectively without all of the work you do.”

Thomas was inducted into the Bath Rotary Club in October 2017. Not only does she serve as club treasurer and secretary, she also serves as Finance Committee Chair and Participation Recognition Committee Co-Chair. She was honored as Rookie of the Year 2017-2018 and Rotarian of the Year 2018-2019.

A 2004 Haverling High School graduate, Thomas has been employed as a Residential Mortgage Manager at Steuben Trust Company since 2017. Previously she worked as a Mortgage Loan Sales Officer with Citizens and Northern Bank, Program Support/Compliance Specialist with CSS Workforce, and Retail Services Officer with Community Bank.

Thomas continues to serve the youth of the community of Bath by sitting on the Board of Directors for the following: Secretary for Bath Youth Baseball, Secretary for Bath Youth Football and Cheerleading, and Member-at-Large for Bath Youth Wrestling.

“I enjoy growing and using youth athletic programs to educate the youth in the community of each sport as well as many other life lessons,” Thomas said.

Thomas and her husband, Zachary, have two children, Gage and Blake, who are very involved in sports. They enjoy watching their sons’ teams compete and spending quality, family time together.

“I have spent much of the last eight years trying to make the community better for the youth moving through it. Rotary came as a blessing in 2017, uniting these efforts with those of the Bath Rotary Club,” said Thomas upon receiving the award. “Together we can change lives not only in our community but around the world. I am honored to be a Bath Rotarian. Being named Rotarian of the Month for December is a great personal achievement of which I am most proud.”

The Bath Rotary Club meets every Thursday at 12 p.m. in the Empire Room of the Dormann Library.
