BINGHAMTON - Three wrestlers from the Corning Hawks won Section IV Championships Saturday at Veterans Memorial Area.
Drew Witham at 132, Chase Daudelin at 138 and Ethan Hart at 145.
Daudelin bumped up two weight classes and defeated two former Section IV Champions including defeating Logan Gumble 2-0 in the finals, avenging last season’s loss.
Drew Witham won by technical fall at the 5:32 mark in his finals matchup.
Hart won with a 9-6 decision victory in the finals.
“Ethan was tested all weekend,” Corning head coach Zakk Rolfe said. “His style is that he’s solid at the basics and sticks to what he’s good at, so when he gets the guys that like to throw and run non-conventional techniques he struggled.”
Hart fell by pin to his finals opponent, Horseheads’ Serfino Menard earlier in the season.
“We made some adjustments and he stuck to the plan and beat him in the sectional finals,” said Rolfe. “I’m proud of how he fought and grew throughout the season.”
Other finishers for the Hawks included Charles Loucks (2nd at 160), Camden McConnell (2nd at 195), Riley Walker (4th at 106 lbs), Kaidan Smith (6th at 120) and Jordan Matthews (6th at 152).
