Armand J. St. Pierre, age 91 of Springfield and formerly of Bath, NY, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home.

Armand J. St. Pierre, age 91 of Springfield and formerly of Bath, NY, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Springfield at 10am Thursday, March 10, 2016. 

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s in Bath, NY later this year.

He was born on November 13, 1924 to Abel Francis and Lucy Mary (Sirois) St. Pierre in Van Buren, Maine.  Predeceasing Armand was his best friend and loving wife of 67 years, Lorraine Francis St. Pierre; a son, Armand (Pat) St. Pierre, Jr. of KY; sisters, Irene Bouchard of NY, Blanche St. Pierre of NY and Jennette DuFrense of MA; brothers, Rene St. Pierre of FL and Abel St. Pierre, Jr. of NY.

Surviving Armand are his children, Connie (Jack) Mitchell of Springfield, TN, Sandy (Bud) Edwards of TX, Judy (Doug) McCabe of FL/NY and Joe (Cindy) St. Pierre of PA; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence McConnell of NY and Lucille Roy of MA; and several nieces and nephews.

Armand married Lorraine in Shelburne Falls, MA in 1945 and the couple moved to Prattsburgh, NY to work on the St. Pierre family potato farms in 1946.  In addition to farming Armand worked for many years at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, NY.

Armand’s passion was gardening. He put that passion, along with his knack for handy-man work, to excellent use over the years as a volunteer for several catholic churches in the NY area where he lived, particularly St. Mary’s in Bath, as well as St. Januarius in Naples and St. Patrick’s in Prattsburgh.  He also spent time as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
