Jean F. Bates, 78 of Three Birch Street, Bath, passed away Saturday, August 11th at the Taylor Health Center, surrounded by her family.

Jean F. Bates, 78 of Three Birch Street, Bath, passed away Saturday, August 11th at the Taylor Health Center, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born April 11, 1940 to George T. And Marion S. Farley.

Jean and her husband Gordon were owners of Bates Onion Farm in Prattsburgh for many years, Jean was a substitute aide a Haverling High School and BOCES, before retiring to her home on Keuka Lake.

She then took a part time job at Heron Hill Winery, where she loved to cook with their wine and maybe take a sip or two.

Jean is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gordon W. Bates, her daughter and best friend Brenda L. (Jerry) Crowe of Bath, son Michael (Kylee Jeanroy) Bates of Pulteney.

The loves of her life her three grandsons, Tayler (Amy Bizup) Crowe of Bath, 

Jordan (Brooke Leone) Crowe of Webster, NY, Alexander (Desiree White) of Pulteney, great grandsons Remi and Meziah Bates. 

Her eight grand doggies, Janie Lane, Phoebe, Diesel, Annabel, Surley, Milky Way, Quattro And Emi.

Niece Kathe Olenik of Anza, CA, and nephew Ted Williams of Pittsburgh, PA.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, sister Patricia Olenik, and her twin sister Jane Williams.

Friends called Thursday, August 16 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home in Hammondsport with the funeral immediately following. 

A Celebration of her life was held at 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Restaurant.
