Rochester – Bonnie died peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on November 23, 2019 at the age of 69. She is predeceased by her parents, Theodore and June De Welles and her beloved grandmother Hazel De Welles. She is survived by her loving daughters, Amy Mancuso and Melissa Mondo; her partner, Mike Peterson; devoted brothers Ted (Sylvia), Kevin and Brian (Robin); six grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved from the bottom of her heart: Shelby, Blake, Corinne, Joey, Frankie, and Han; as well as nieces Angela and Madeleine and nephew Nicholas.
Bonnie attended Sacred Heart elementary school in the Tenth Ward and was a graduate of Nazareth High School. Her working career included positions at St Joseph’s Villa, Eastman Kodak and in Rochester’s legal community. For over 25 years, she worked at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in various departments where she always had the respect and friendship of those who had the good fortune to work with her. As an Administrative Assistant in the Office of Constituency Relations, she helped with the planning and implementation of numerous URMC events. She also was key in the creation of the office of the Patient Experience and ICARE Commitment, working on culture change to improve patient and staff
Bonnie was a person who loved strongly and deeply. She loved to entertain. She loved all holidays, especially Christmas. She loved to shop. She loved her home in Hammondsport. And she loved life. Above all she loved people and especially her family. She brought warmth, fun, and joy to everyone she met. A devoted mother, supportive sister, loyal friend and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves a huge gap in the lives of the many people who knew and loved her. We miss her so much.
Bonnie’s life will be celebrated during visitation hours, 4-8 PM on Monday, December 2 at the Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane. Her funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Cathedral on 296 Flower City Park at 9 AM on Tuesday, December 3. Private internment will take place at a later date.
