Nancy Wilson Smith passed away and went to join the Lord on March 4, 2020 at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care in Canandaigua, NY.  She was born Dec. 3, 1929 to Helen Ayers Wilson and Leo Raymond Wilson in Elmira, NY.

Nancy was raised in the small town of Avoca, NY along with her five siblings.  Preceded in death by her siblings including; Robert (Mary) Wilson, Eleanor (Dorian) Garlington, William (Winne) Wilson, Mary (Carl) Kohl and Barbara (Bill) Matthews. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Smith of 47 years of marriage.

Nancy graduated from Avoca Central School Class of 1947.  She participated in basketball, cheerleading, and the senior play.  Nancy had a lifelong interest in sports and love of music. She was a big fan of Frank Sinatra leaving on the note, “That’s Life”! After school she worked as a telephone operator at the Rochester Telephone Company and then moved back home and worked at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, NY as a
secretary.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She and Bob raised 3 children in her family home in Avoca, NY.  Family was top priority.  Nancy made great pies! She was an avid collector of antiques and refinishing furniture.  She enjoyed decorating and working on craft projects.  Nancy was part of a local card club for 32 years.  We all looked forward to our family vacation trips to Henderson Harbor, NY.

Nancy and Bob moved to a new home in Bath, NY in 1980.  She was a member of the Bath Presbyterian church.  Nancy briefly sang in the choir and volunteered at the Lent lunches. In Bath she worked part-time at the Bobbi Lou Clothing shop and Hallmark Cards. Bob and Nancy enjoyed dinner and dancing. They appreciated their neighbors, family and friends over all the years! They were happy to get the opportunity to travel down south and out west to see their children. Nancy attended many musicals.

Nancy walked her dog daily and appreciated the beauty around her.  She was a proud grandmother!  She loved spending time with her grandsons and watching them play lacrosse.  Nancy moved to Victor, NY in 2012 and participated in the Gypsum Mills Senior Community.  She played Wii bowling on a team and always liked being part of a good laugh! 

Nancy is survived by her children: Amy Smith (Gerry Wilcox) and their children Gregory and Benjamin Smith-Wilcox of Canandaigua, NY, Jill Tierney Fay (David) of Durango, CO, Rick Tierney (Pamela) of Florida and their children Jennifer and Todd and great grandchildren.

There will be no memorial service per her request.  Donations to Finger Lakes SPCA; 72 Cameron Street, Bath, NY 14810.
