John Robert Dempster Jr. “JACK” age 77 passed away from Covid-19 on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 at Arnot hospital in Elmira, NY with his son Stephen by his side.

John Robert Dempster Jr. “JACK” age 77 passed away from Covid-19 on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 at Arnot hospital in Elmira, NY with his son Stephen by his side. Jack was born on September 30th, 1942 in Watertown, NY to John Robert Dempster, Sr. of Gouverneur, NY and Evelyn (Sayer) Dempster of Dekalb Jct., NY. Jack is survived by his son, Stephen Dempster, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Taylor, and granddaughter, Aneilia Jack Dempster Taylor, all of NH, brother, James Dempster “Jim”, sister-in-law, Sharon Dempster of Savona, nephews, Kirby Dempster and his wife, Tonya Dempster, and their children, Ashley, Megan and Austin of MT, and Kristopher Dempster and his wife, Mary Dempster, and their daughter, Abigail, of SC. He also enjoyed many wonderful friendships all throughout NY. 

 

Jack retired from Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport NY after over 40 years of service. He then continued to actively work for Green Thumb Environmental Beautification for 12 years. Jack enjoyed working, walking a couple of miles every day, and spending time with friends and family. He was an avid fan of horseracing and loved his son, Stephen, and granddaughter, Aneilia Jack, dearly. Jack will be missed greatly by many. A virtual memorial will be held for Jack on Thursday the 21st of May at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. In lieu of flowers we ask everyone to honor Jack by making an extra effort to extend patience and kindness to others during these challenging times. Additionally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for our frontline workers, especially the nurses and other medical staff. As a tribute to Jack, consider doing something special for one of these men and women serving and protecting us.
