Peggy Elaine Rougeux (Curtis)
Bath - Peggy Elaine Rougeux (Curtis), age 80 of Bath N.Y., passed peacefully on Friday (Dec. 25, 2020).
She was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Hornell, N.Y. the daughter of the late Miner A. and Madeline D. (Lacey) Curtis. Peggy graduated from Haverling High School in 1958 and married Gregory L. Rougeux from Avoca shortly following graduation.
She held bookkeeping positions with Citrus Floor Covering in Orange City, Fla. from 1969-1976, Perry and Thompson Ford in Bath, N.Y. from 1978-1982 and Modern Refrigeration in Hammondsport, N.Y. from 1982-1984. She then began a new career with Steuben County Department of Social Services holding positions as a clerk typist, Social Welfare Examiner, and finally as Senior Social Welfare Examiner until her retirement in 2003.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, genealogy, and spending time with her family and pets.
She is survived by her brother, Miner A. (Connie) Curtis and her children, Richard (Diane) Rougeux, of Orange City, Fla., Jeffrey (Debra) Rougeux of Bloomfield N.Y., John (Natalie) Rougeux of New Braunfels, Tex. and Michelle (Ryan) Sincerbox of Bath N.Y., as well as her grandchildren, Ryan Rougeux, Tyler Rougeux, Kyle (Kayla) Rougeux, Susan (Liam) Davis, Morgan Sincerbox, Emily Rougeux, and a great granddaughter, Bexley Rose Rougeux, along with many cherished nieces, nephews and close friends.
Services will be determined at a later date.
In accordance with Peggy's wishes, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her life are asked to make a donation to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron St., Bath, N.Y. 14810. Will Rogers once said, "If dogs don't go to heaven, I want to go where they go when I die."
