Dean "Glenn" Simpson passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2021 at home after a six year struggle with thyroid cancer.
Dean was born at home in Bradford, NY, the fifth son of Ivan and Sophie Simpson, on August 10, 1952.
Dean graduated from Bradford Central School, class of 1972. One of the last to receive a draft notice, he dutifully left to join the US Army a month after graduating. He served one year overseas in South Korea. After being honorably discharged in 1974, Dean was hired by the then NYS Department of Environmental Conservation where he worked for over thirty years, starting out as a heavy equipment operator. Throughout his career with the DEC, Dean was responsible for supervising projects involving the residents of Camp Monterey and Camp Butler S.H.O.C.K. Incarceration facilities, ending his career as an Operations Supervisor of Region 8 based out of Avon, NY.
"Glenn" married his high school sweetheart, Lori Jo Wilson, on October 1, 1977 at the Savona Federated Church. They were fortunate to spend over 43 good years together.
He was a gentle giant of a man who never left anywhere without establishing a connection or discovering a new friend. Dean's favorite hobbies and pasttimes included spending time with his son, nephews and brothers at the family farm and "drizzling" over miles of the "roads less traveled" to and from any given destination, mentioning multiple points of interest along the way. The times he enjoyed the most however, were the times he spent with his treasured children and grandchildren. There could not be a prouder man of his family than "Boppa" or "Bocky", as he was called by his grands.
Dean's survivors include his wife, Lori; his adored and cherished children and their spouses, Autumn Perlstein (Aaron) of Philadelphia, PA and Zachary Simpson (Amanda) of Savona, NY; his adored and cherished grandchildren, Noah Davis Perlstein, Lila Jo Simpson, Abigail Rose Perlstein, and Lucas Dean Simpson; his brother and best friend Dale "Butch" Simpson (Virginia) of Bradford, NY, brother Neil D.
