John Edward Bixby
John Edward Bixby, age 78 of Corning, New York passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1942 in Hornby, New York to the late Charles Bixby and Helen Divens. He married Dolores Wilson on April 17, 1964.
John was raised by a loving and caring mother and father. In his free time, John will be remembered for the time he spent with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a mechanic for the City of Corning for 30 years. He loved working on cars and going to classic car shows. His favorite classic car was a car he once owned a Red 1968 Chevy SS Convertible. His passion for cars made him the man he was and loved to talk shop any chance he could with friends and family.
He was a member of the Shady Grove Wesleyan Church, Board Member, and Usher. He loved Country Gospel Music.
John is survived by wife: Dolores Bixby; two children: Teresa (Thomas) Havens of Riverside; Paul E. (Ninette) Bixby of Hornby; four grandchildren: Jessica (Steve) Moshier of Catlin, Grace Bixby of Hornby, Jon Luke (Skylar) Bixby of Hornby, Sara Bixby of Hornby; five great grandchildren: Christopher and Parker Moshier, Cole, Robert and Lucus Bixby; two siblings: Mary (Jack) Travis of Columbus, OH; Irene Bixby of Hornby; aunt: Doris Resue of Corning, NY.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by siblings: Donald Bixby, Mable Whitney; and special friends Reverend Glen and Blanche Weaver.
Family and friend are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A private family services will be held. All Covid-19 safety precautions will be followed.
