Stanley E. (Stosh) Yarka

Stanley E. Yarka (Stosh), age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday June 24, 2021 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, New York. He was born November 5, 1945 to Walter and Mary (O'Konski) Yarka. Stosh served in the United States Army from 1967-1973 as a Military Policeman, serving in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. After leaving the Army, he was employed as a Machine Operator at Dresser Rand, where he retired in 2000. Stosh was a lifetime member of the Savona Rod & Gun Club, where he spent countless Friday nights playing poker with his buddies. He enjoyed attending gun raffles and could always be counted on to sell 50/50 tickets-which he had a smooth way of talking people into buying them. Stosh will be remembered as the guy who was at Tops everyday, riding the electric car around, buying his lotto tickets and harassing the girls at the service desk. Stosh was predeceased by his parents Mary & Walter, sister Helen, and brother Jim. He is survived by his children Lorri (Dale) Yarka Applebee, Rodney Yarka (CarriLyn Royce) and their mother Donna Washburn, Carla Yarka Hoad (Pete Gleason), Sheri Yarka, Stosh Yarka and their mother Patricia Sutton Yarka. Grandchildren Brandon (Toni) Yarka, Justin (Courtney) Yarka, Nathaniel Pruden, Kaylee Yarka, Danl Hoad II, Waylon Hoad, Karter Yarka and Mia Yarka. Great-grandchildren Devin Clark, Harper Clark and Emma Clark.

A full military service will be held for his immediate family at the Bath VA with a celebration of life following, dates to be determined at a later time.
