Volney R. Wesche

Union City, GA - – Volney R Wesche, 97, late of Union City, Georgia, died in his sleep early Wednesday morning, December 8, 2021, at Christian City Assisted Living Center on Lester Road.

The third of four sons of Herman and Pauline Vossler Wesche, he was born in Wellsville, New York, on June 6, 1924. After serving in the Marine Corps in the Pacific theater of World War II, he married Rosemary Johnson of Rochester, New York, and was a career salesman for New Holland Machine Company of New Holland, Pennsylvania. Living in Bath, New York, he and Rosemary were long-time members of Bath Baptist Church, then Avoca Baptist Church. Volney and Rosemary both trusted Christ as their Lord and Savior, leaving behind a 50 year legacy of faith and service.

Survivors include his son Martin (Linda) Wesche of Grantville, Georgia; daughter Elise Deninger of Bath, New York; grandson Daniel (Emily) Wesche of Peachtree City, Georgia; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased are his beloved wife Rosemary, parents, and his three brothers.

Volney will be buried in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, New York. A memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of him may be sent to First Baptist Church of Avoca, 1 Church St, Avoca, NY 14809.
