CORNING - Quam Jackson will continue his wrestling career at Lake Erie College in the fall following a national letter of intent signing ceremony at Corning-Painted Post High School Tuesday.

Jackson has been wrestling for the Hawks since the seventh grade and was happy to have the signing ceremony in front of friends and family.

"It felt amazing because they're the main reason why I'm doing it," Jackson said after signing with the Div. II program.

Jackson's success was well-deserved, Corning head coach Cam Daudelin said.

"He's a great kid and has been a pivotal part of our program over the years," Daudelin said.

At the ceremony, Jackson told the crowd that his entry into the sport came by accident, joining at the urging of a friend.

"I did feel I accidentally joined the sport, but I'm so grateful for that accident because it has been one of the best, positive influences in my life," Jackson said.

Jackson said Lake Erie was an easy choice to make.

"They have been so helpful to me," he said. "They reached out to me and wanted me."
