BATH - Bath out dueled Wellsville for a 2-1 home victory on Wednesday.
“This was just a great high school game with two really good teams," Bath head coach Don Long said.
The Lions started out the scoring in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Taylor Adams that put Wellsville up 1-0.
Bath responded in the sixth inning when Morgan Olan had a two-out RBI single that tied the score at 1.
The game went in to extra innings, when Olan found herself up with two outs again in the eighth as she came through for the winning run that scored Ali Dickson.
Olan finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Dickson finished 2 for 4.
Mikayla Brzezinski was un-hittable on the mound, striking out 13 batters in eight innings while walking only one and giving up four hits.
"I thought Mikayla threw her best game of the year," Long said.“I’m real proud of the kids, they battled tonight after going down one in the fifth."
Morgan Sible went the distance for the Lions, walking four and fanning seven and only allowing five hits.
Adams went 1 for 4 with an RBI and Savannah Perham recorded a hit in three tries.
Bath (7-5) will travel to Wayland-Cohocton on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
"Hopefully this win propels us and gives us a little momentum going forward," said Long.
Wellsville falls to 9-5.
