BATH - Prattsburgh edged Arkport/Caneseraga 56-48 on Tuesday in the Steuben County League girls basketball finals.
"Tonight was a great battle between two good teams," Prattsburgh head coach Jeff Gilbert said.
The game lived up to that billing as only one point seperated the two teams after the first 16 minutes as Prattsburgh led the contest 25-24.
Brooke Anspach led the Blue Jays with 10 points in the first half and Lauren Robbins added 12 points for the Vikings.
Prattsburgh extended its lead in the third quarter to five points, outscoring Arkport/Caneseraga 15-11 that included six more points from Robbins.
The Vikings went ahead for good in the fourth quarter, led by Lucia D'Arpino's seven points.
"Our girls played with a lot of heart tonight, they put together a good 4th quarter that gave us some breathing room," Gilbert said. "It's great to have that County title back in the Burgh."
Robbins had 20 points to lead Prattsburgh, D'Arpino added 11 points and five rebounds and Jenna Pinckney chipped in 10 points.
Abbi Patrick had 16 points for Arkport/Caneseraga.
Steuben County Boys Tournament
Hammondsport 71, Hammondsport 38
BATH - Hammondsport got offensive against Avoca 71-38 in the third place game of the Steuben County boys tournament on Wednesday.
The Tigers won 71-38 over the Lakers. The Lakers’ high scorer was Parker Watson with 14 points and Cameron Roote netted 8 points.
High scorer for the Avoca was Evan Reppert with 20 points with Ladre Stanford adding 17 points.
Women's College Basketball
Corning Community College 70, Broome Community College 26
CORNING - Mackenzie Warner broke the 20 year old single game assist record with 17 assists as the Red Barons handled Broome CC 70-26 on Wednesday.
The Red Barons outscored Broome 42-16 in the first half and never looked back.
Taylor Sutryk led Corning with 22 points, Kiara Buxton added 18 points and 13 rebounds and Emily Smith chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Warner posted 10 points in addition to her assists.
Men's College Basketball
Corning Community College 98, Broome Community College 90
CORNING - Corning edged Broome 98-90 on Wednesday at home.
The Red Barons outscored Broome 51-45 in the first half and held on for the victory.
RaeQuan Scott and Isaiah Jennings each netted 23 points for the Red Barons.
Christian Simmons and Jon Ward added 19 and 18 points, respectively.
