CORNING - Wellsville got past Corning 56-55 on the Hawks' senior night on Friday in a non-league boys basketball matchup.

The Hawks came back from down as many as nine points late in the third quarter to take a 51-50 lead with 1:40 to go in the final frame on a steal and score from Jordan Haggard.,

After a free-throw from Wellsville tied the game, Haggard responded again for Corning by netting an acrobatic layup that gave the Hawks a 53-51 lead with under a minute remaining.

The ensuing Lions posession, Joe Tronetti drilled a corner 3-pointer to give Wellsville a 54-53 advantage. A Corning turnover on the next poessesion sealed the game for the Lions.

Max Jusianiec led Wellsville with 20 points, Tronetti added 13 points and Aiden Cook posted 11 points.

For the Hawks, Haggard had 22 points including eight in the fourth quarter while Lucas Rossington added 12 points and Cameron Laughlin.
