HAMMONDSPORT - Hammondsport volleyball improved to 9-1 on the season defeating Arkport-Canaseraga in 3 sets 25-9, 25-12, 25-12.

Erika Hilligus led Hammondsport with 19 aces followed by Brianna Pratt with 10.

At the net Julia Bennett, Hilligus, Vittoria Cateni, and Brianna Hill led with five, four, three, and two kills, respectively.

Hammondsport will take on the 8-1 Lyons at home Monday starting at 7pm.

Dansville 3, Haverling 0

HAVERLING - Haverling topped Dansville 3-0 Friday in a volleyball contest by scores of 25-8, 25-18 and 25-11.

Aaliyah Robinson had seven digs and Cadin Taggart posted three blocks for Haverling.

For Dansville, Maddie Jacobs had seven kills and Taylor Mann recorded five aces.

Both teams will participate in the Haverling Invitational at 8 a.m. today.

Boys soccer

Addison 1, Avoca 0

ADDISON - Addison got past Avoca 1-0 Friday in a boys soccer contest.

"This was a big win," Addison head coach Mike Bills said. "Simon came up with some real big saves to help us win the game."

Brian Simon netted the lone goal for the Knights with only 7:20 left in the contest.

Simon Segaard had 13 saves in goal.

Avoca outshot Addison 19-11 in the contest.

Girls soccer

Addison 4, Campbell-Savona 0

ADDISON - Addison scored four second half goals on its way to a 4-0 victory over Campbell-Savona Friday.

"We struggled in the first half," Addison head coach Kay Peters said. "Played an entirely different second half. Good way to have a homecoming victory."

Gabby Coletta netted the Knights' first goal 10 minutes into the second half on an assist from Rachel Miller. Three minutes later, Kihara Gotshall scored a goal on a penalty kick.

Jillian Ames and Paula Bartman connected on the last two Addison goals in the last two minutes with both goals assisted by Kerrigan Driskell.

Addison improves to 7-2 with the win and will travel to Canisteo-Greenwood Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

STAC Tennis

Union-Endicott 4, Corning 3

UNION-ENDICOTT - Union-Endicott edged Corning 4-3 Friday in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference tennis matchup.

The Tigers swept singles play with Meghan Walton (3-6, 6-4, 6-0), Kayla Davis (2-6, 7-5, 6-4), Isabelle Homan (6-1, 6-3) and Gabrielle Gance (6-3, 6-3) earning wins.

The Hawks won all three doubles contests.

Erin Austin and Alexa Cates won first doubles (6-3, 6-1), Esha Soni and Mia Colonna (6-1, 6-1) won second doubles and the team of Gabrielle Nares and Tatum Treadwell earned a third doubles victory 7-6(7-5), 3-6, 6-2.

Corning (11-3) will host Horseheads Monday at 4:30 p.m.


ROCHESTER - The Corning Hawks Gymnastics team placed second out of five teams Friday at the Rush-Henrietta Recreation Center.

Pittsford came in first place with a team score of 131.875.

Freshman, Anna Zahradka placed third all-around with a 32.85. She placed 3rd on the vault with an 8.3, and 3rd on the beam with an 8.25. She also placed 5th on the bars with a 7.25, and 6th on the floor with a 9.05. Eighth grader, Abby Reppert placed 7th on the vault with a 7.8. Senior, Josephine Schelling placed 8th on the beam with a 7.6.

The girls improved their team total this week by 4 points.

Corning will travel to MCA Gymnastics next Friday, October 4th. The meet will begin at 6:00 p.m.

STAC volleyball

Elmira 3, Johnson City 0

ELMIRA - Elmira defeated Johnson City 3-0 25-15, 25-13 and a come from behind 25-23 win at Elmira High School Gymnasium Thursday.

Morgan Gentile led with seven Aces and eight Kills, Delaney Williams had seven assists and three aces and Caroline Barr had two blocks.

Johnson City was led by Gabriella Bishop with two kills and three aces. Amira Vazquez had three assists and six digs and Makayla Ailport had three Aces and three Blocks.

Elmira plays at Union-Endicott next Tuesday.
