CAMPBELL - Campbell-Savona got a record breaking performance from Caine Taft as well as other excellent swims in a 108-72 victory over Canisteo-Greenwood Tuesday in a Steuben County Athletic Association swimming contest.


"I was curious to see how the team would perform after the two-week break from competitions," Panthers head coach Bob Loveless said. "We were able to try a few new things tonight and the athletes were up to the task."


Taft broke the team record in the 200 Yard individual medley by more then 2 and a half seconds and just missed the pool record by 7 hundredths of a second (0.07 sec) with his time of 2:09.15.


Taft also was a cog on Campbell-Savona’s sweep of relays which included wins in the 200 medley relay that also included Alex Feldman, Jacob Sullivan and Joel Vanskiver (1:48.19). The same team won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:39.32.


The team of Kirk Rissinger, Jacob Sullivan, Feldman and Taft took first in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:40.32).


Also earning individual wins for the Panthers included Vanskiver, who was a double individual winner in the 50 freestyle (24.13) and the 100 freestyle (54.88), Donna Clark (diving; 139.95), Sullivan (100 butterfly; 1:02.67) and Tim Soporowski (100 backstroke; 1:17.24)


Campbell-Savona will host Alfred-Almond at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in its next contest.
