JOHNSON CITY - Corning topped Johnson City 61-45 Friday in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference girls basketball matchup.
Alyssa Dobson netted 27 points for the Hawks while Ashlee Volpe contributed 19 points and Jenna DiNardo filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, seven assists, five rebounds and seven steals.
Johnson City 66, Corning 55
JOHNSON CITY - Johnson City pulled away from Corning for a 66-55 victory Friday in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference boys basketball contest.
Johnson City held a 58-54 in the last two minutes, but pulled away for the victory.
Aidan Chamberlin led the Hawks with 19 points and Justin Rodriguez added nine points.
Xavier Hill had 18 points for the Wildcats including six points in the final quarter. Sean Moran added 17 points with five coming in the final frame.
Bradford 84, Lima-Christian 29
BRADFORD - Bradford got offensive in its 84-29 victory over Lima-Christian Friday in a non-league boys basketball contest.
The Braves came out of the gates on fire, outscoring Lima-Christian 31-8 led by 12 points by Jordan Sutryk and 15 points from Blaze Machuga.
Bradford kept the pressure on the next three quarters, outscoring Lima 53-21.
Machuga led the Braves with 22 points and Sutryk added 21 points.
Bradford improves to 10-4 with the win.
Jasper-Troupsburg 60, Belfast 32
JASPER- Jasper-Troupsburg topped Belfast on its senior night 60-32 Friday in a non-league girls basketball game.
“All together a team win is always nice to see,” Jasper-Troupsburg head coach Kali Muhleisen said. “It’s as simple as doing your job. Belfast is aggressive and a great shooting team, we went man on them and had a good night defensively to shut them down.”
Jade Atherton led the Wildcats with 20 points, Brynn Waters added 16 points and Allyson Hayes chipped in 11 points.
“Brynn Waters came up HUGE tonight on the boards for us especially offensively, along with scoring 16 points,” said Muhleisen. “Her effort tonight was unmatchable. I am proud to have her on our team she always gives 110% and does her job. Senior, Bailey Palmiter tied it up quite a few times with some game changing rebounds, she was aggressive and found her teammates for outlet passes into great transitions. Senior, Jade Atherton did well from close field goal range scoring 16 points and adding some extras at the foul line.”
Jasper improves to 5-9 and will travel to Campbell-Savona Monday.
