HAVERLING - Haverling overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to top Dansville 54-53 in overtime in a Livingston County Athletic Association boys basketball game Wednesday.


The Mustangs got out to a strong start in the first half led by 11 points from Drew Morrow to take a 28-18 lead into halftime.


“I told them we had to win the first four min of the third quarter and if we could get it down to four points we could win the fourth,” Haverling head coach Bill Baker said.


The Rams responded outscoring the Mustangs 12-6 in the third quarter. Haverling fell down nine points in the final frame with three minutes to go, but battled back to tie the game and force overtime.


Jordon Deats netted a 10 footer which proved to be the game winner in the extra frame as Haverling forced a deep 3-pointer from Dansville as time expried.


Deats had 20 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and overtime for the Rams. Justin Marshall added nine points and Thomas Binkowski contributed seven points.


Drew Morrow led the Mustangs with 13 points and Colyer Adams chipped in 11 points.


Haverling improves to 9-8 with the win.
