Peace scholarship honors four seniors

The 13th annual Helen Rubar Memorial Peace Scholarship will be presented to Katelyn Baroody from Haverling High School, Rachel Armstrong, Emily Drake and Cejae Scotchmer from Hammondsport High School.  at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7th.

The students are being honored for their commitment to working for peace and justice as well as their compassion and service to the community.

The ceremony will take place at the PeaceWeavers’ Thunder Mountain Retreat Sanctuary, at 8125 Crouse Road, Bath.

The Peace Scholarship is cosponsored by the Bath Peace and Justice Group and the PeaceWeavers.  

The award is named after former Bath resident Helen Rubar who demonstrated great devotion to her community, church and the nation through countless hours of volunteer work with the Bath Ambulance Corps, the Red Cross, and the County Jail as well as with local literacy, teen mentoring, and hunger programs.
