Dana Lyon Middle School fifth-graders recently celebrated Arbor Day with the help of special guests Bath Mayor Donna Simonson, Superintendent of Schools Patrick Kelley and members of the Bath Shade Tree Committee.

Highlights of the ceremony included an Arbor Day skit by Morgan Reynolds and Teaching Assistants Eleata Mitchell and Walt Franklin, and readings by Austin Decker, Devon Slocum and Hannalea Evans. Also recognized was Katie Tobias for her Arbor Day-inspired art work.

Fifth-graders planted a class tree and time capsule containing each students¹ name in front of the school.

“Many of the trees planted on our campus are fifth-grade class trees,” said Teacher Brenda Wright. “They hold significant meaning for our alumni.”
