Green ready to serve as FFA state officer

Staff reports
Leann Green

Jasper-Troupsburg Central School Leann Green has been elected to serve for one year as a New York FFA State officer.

A junior, and President of the Jasper-Troupsburg FFA Chapter, Leann began her year of service with a kick-off training just weeks after winning the election. Time-management, public speaking, key message identification, and character-driven decision-making were a part of the four day conference at Oswegatchie Educational Center in Croghan.

As a state FFA officer and District 8 president Leann will represent FFA Chapters in Steuben, Chemung, Schyler, Tioga, Yates, Ontario and Wayne counties at the state level. She will receive over 250 hours of training and spend more than a month on the road over her summer vacation. Leann will have the opportunity to make a big impact on over 400 FFA members state wide. She will be visiting local schools, facilitating workshops, and giving speeches to groups interested in agriculture and education

The FFA, a national youth organization, once known as the Future Farmers of America, offers leadership and career development opportunities for students interested in any agriculturally related career. One in five American careers is rooted in agriculture and students studying agricultural education in New York high schools are preparing for careers that are essential, current, and lucrative.

As an elected state officer, Leann will have the chance to promote these opportunities throughout the state to students, school administrators, businesses, and legislators.
