Bath Police Officer Colin Taft has some extra stripes on his shoulder, after Bath village trustees unanimously approved his promotion to sergeant Monday.

Taft has been with the department for nearly five years, and has been acting police sergeant.

“I gave him a multitude of assignments which he completed well and without complaint,” Village Police Chief David Rouse told the village board.

Taft began police work in the Village of Addison and City of Corning before joining the Bath department in in August 2006. He expects to receive a bachelors’ degree from Keuka College this year.

Taft is the grandson of former Steuben County Legislator Harley Mayo.
