Dykins selected to receive Academic Excellence Award

GREAT LAKES, IL | Navy Seaman Timothy A. Dykins, son of Vicki L. and Samuel L. Dykins of Hammondsport, NY, was recently selected to receive the Academic Excellence Award of his recruit company at Recruiting Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Dykins was cited for outstanding performance by a single recruit in his company while undergoing recruit training. Dykins’s commitment to excellence put his performance above all of his peers.

This Academic Excellence Award is presented to the sailor who achieved the highest overall academic score during recruit training.

Dykins is a 2000 graduate of Zephyrhills High School of Zephyrhills, Fla. He is a 2007 graduate of University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla. with a BS degree.

Gurnsey graduates from basic infantry training

COLUMBUS, GA | Army Pvt. Nathaniel R. Gurnsey has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Bridget Finley of Ridge Road, Hammondsport, NY, and Mark Gurnsey of Addison, NY.

Gurnsey graduated in 2008 from Hammondsport Central High School.

Albee graduates from basic military training in Texas

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Air Force Airman Joseph T. Albee graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Albee is the son of Rosemary Albee of Church Street, Cohocton.

He is a 2006 graduate of Wayland-Cohocton High School. He earned an associate degree in 2009 from Finger Lakes Community College, Canadaigua.

Robinson graduates from basic military training

SAN ANTONIO, TX | Air Force Airman Daniel P. Robinson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
