March elections may be one-sided

Village board elections in Bath may be a formality only, with the GOP endorsing three candidates last Tuesday and Dems failing to come up with a single candidate when they met Wednesday.

Republicans unanimously selected village Trustee John Stranges for mayor, according to Bath Republican Party Chair Robin Lattimer.

Lattimer said the caucus picked village Trustee Jeanne Glass for another term on the board, with newcomer Michael McNally chosen for the vacant trustee slot.

Stranges – who announced last December he would not run for any village seat – was the only nominee for mayor, Lattimer said.

Glass is deputy mayor and has served on the board for three term, and McNally is now

The Democrats may have scored a slight moral victory this week, when Democrat Village Justice Chauncey Watches also was nominated for reelection by the Republican caucus.

Watches was endorsed by the GOP, which received no nominations for the post, according to Lattimer.
