The Hammondsport Lady Lakers are headed for a varsity volleyball showdown with the Prattsburgh Vikings at 1 p.m. Saturday at Avoca Central School, according to Hammondsport volleyball Coach Julie Amsden.

The Lady Lakers were No. 1 in the Class D Section 5 going into sectionals with an 18-1 record, and now face the second seeded Vikings.

“This will be third time we played (the Vikings) this season,” Amsden said. “We've beaten them both times, but they always play us tough. We respect their game and know we have to play error-free volleyball to beat them.”

Amsden said the Lakers Drew afirst round bye and met CG Finney in the quarter-final match defeating them in three. Met the 4th seed Lyndonville in the semi-final match last night and defeated them in 3 as well (25-7, 25-7, 25-7) My sophomore defensive specialist, Aly Binnert, served the first 21 points of the match and racked up 10 aces setting the tone for the rest of the match.  Lori Gordon had 9 kills and senior setter Lauren Binnert had 22 assists.
