What can you buy for the person who has everything? How about something that benefits someone who doesn’t? This holiday season, show your giving side by considering a gift that benefits people and animals in need.

Fight cancer with candles

For the past 14 years, PartyLite candle company has partnered with the American Cancer Society, facilitating contributions of more than $13 million. Currently, a portion of every purchase of a strawberry rhubarb GloLite candle is given to the organization.

Help rescued animals

The Animal Rescue Site store, a partner of, sells a variety of items for pets and the people who love them. According to the company’s website, every purchase funds at least 14 bowls of food for shelter animals. The Gifts that Give More program allows people to make a direct donation to the animal-related cause of their choice.

Helpa helpa help the kids

For a laugh, give a download of “Feel Inside (and stuff like that),” a song by musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. A portion of each download from iTunes will benefit Cure Kids, a New Zealand organization that funds research to fight illnesses affecting children.  

Help with the holiday meal

Several grocery stores have programs through which purchases help causes. Kroger’s Neighbor to Neighbor program, Whole Foods’ Whole Planet Foundation and others offer opportunities   for shoppers to give back.
