Stolen ATV found in Campbell

State troopers recovered a stolen all-terrain vehicle Wednesday after responding to the report of an armed man in Campbell.

According to Painted Post-based state police, a caller said a man carrying a long gun was approaching a residence on County Route 125. The man in possession of the gun, 26-year-old William M. Wagner, of Watkins Glen, was visiting someone in the area.

When troopers arrived, they found an ATV in the bed of Wagner’s truck.

The ATV had been reported stolen from Losey Hill Road in Tyrone.

Troopers determined the gun in Wagner’s possession was not stolen, and the man never threatened anyone with a weapon. A concerned neighbor placed the phone call about Wagner being armed.

Wagner was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was jailed on $10,000 cash bail.
