Alleged domestic incident
Charges have been filed against a Bath man who was stabbed by his girlfriend last week during a domestic abuse incident, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel L. Hoad, 37, of Roosevelt Avenue, is charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was allegedly physically abusive to his girlfriend in the presence of a child.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight Dec. 23 at Hoad’s residence, according to a press release.
Hoad’s girlfriend called 911 to report she had stabbed him in the shoulder after he had been abusive toward her, police said.
Hoad was taken by ambulance to Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital but refused treatment and was released.
The woman was questioned after the incident, but was not charged.
Hoad was charged Wednesday, arraigned before Judge Chauncey Watches in Bath Village Court and released on his own recognizance. An order of protection was issued for the woman and child involved in the incident.
Hoad is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office was assisted in the investigation by the county District Attorney’s Office, Child Protective Services and Probation Department. Hoad was on probation for an unrelated incident.
