Allegedly drunk Avoca woman slams into carport, house in Bath

Staff reports

An allegedlyintoxicated woman smashed a carport and then drove into a neighboring house Tuesday night, Dec. 27, in Bath.

Bath-based state police reported that Angela M. Abbott, 32, of 9235 County Route 9, Avoca, took a turn too fast on Lake Salubria Road and exited the roadway at approximately 9:30 p.m.

She barreled into a carport, totaling the structure before she struck a nearby house. The car cracked the block foundation of the house. The vehicle itself is probably totaled, said police.

Residents in the house and Abbott weren’t injured in the accident.

In addition to a driving while intoxicated charge, Abbott was also charged with fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and containing a controlled substance not in its original container.

The fifth-degree charge stems from Abbott allegedly possessing a half-gram of cocaine, said police.

Abbott was arraigned in Bath town court and released on her own recognizance.

Bath village police assisted in the investigation.
